Meet Nhuri
Question: Why did you apply for a job at HSBC?
Answer: Living in Bermuda and learning about how vital our country is to the international financial community, I wanted to work for an organization that was at the pulse of international business and gave its employees the ability to develop personally and professionally. HSBC provided the perfect solution for what I required in a company; international connectivity, stability and a strong track record of fostering the talents of young professionals.
Question: What do you like most about your job?
Answer: The most interesting facet of my current role is that I have daily contact with some of the industry's leading professionals. I am apart of a team that is progressive and work together to deliver results. I truly feel that my opinion and perspective is valued and I can see the direct effect of my contribution to the company.
Question: What areas of HSBC have you experienced so far?
Answer: I have worked in numerous areas within HSBC. I spent six months in the St. George's Retail Branch as a Customer Service Supervisor, three months in Church Street Business Banking shadowing Relationship Managers and supervising the Business Banking Branch. I now work as a Product Manager in the Retail Banking & Wealth Management division. Working in multiple areas has allowed me to learn a great deal about the organization, our customers and the diverse perspectives that drive our business to be successful. I am still learning everyday.
Question: How has this job helped you in your career development?
Answer: I recently received a promotion to Product Manager and this is in part due to the large emphasis the company places on Talent Management. HSBC offers a wide spectrum of career and accreditation paths. In Bermuda, we also have a unique opportunity to get direct contact with Senior Managers for career advice and mentorship.
Question: Do you have any words of wisdom regarding careers?
Answer: Be open to change, diversity and learning new concepts and you will be successful.
