Are there any cities or countries excluded from my Travel Insurance policy?
Countries are not specifically excluded; however, countries experiencing civil unrest, riots or wars are not covered. Please contact BF&M if you need additional information.
What is the maximum length of time I am covered for each trip?
An Annual Travel Insurance policy will cover any number of trips in a single year. However, any one trip within that year cannot exceed 30 days.
A Short Term Travel Insurance policy will cover any number of trips in a single year, up to a maximum of 14 travel days in total per year.
Can I extend my period of cover?
Annual polices are automatically renewed provided the premium is paid within 30 days of the expiry of the previous.
Short Term policies are not renewable. However, you may purchase another Short Term Travel Insurance policy for additional trips.
Are business trips included in my Travel Insurance policy?
Business trips are not included as part of this personal Travel Insurance policy.
Can I cancel the insurance at any time?
The Policyholder can cancel a Travel Insurance policy within 14 days of the effective date and receive a full premium refund provided the Policyholder or any of the family members covered under the policy have not traveled outside of Bermuda during this period. If the Policyholder cancels after the first 14 days, or if the Policyholder or any of the family members covered under the policy has traveled outside of Bermuda within those first 14 days, no premium refund will be made.
Am I or anyone else under my policy covered for hazardous sports or activities?
You have the option to purchase additional 'Adventure Travel' insurance coverage if you will be participating in sports and outdoor activities overseas. This is an additional coverage feature if you plan to snow ski, snow board, skin dive or scuba dive.
What should I do if I or anyone else covered under my policy falls ill when they are abroad?
Regarding sickness when traveling abroad, your initial contact should be with your personal health insurance provider. The coverage provided under this policy is designed to cover additional costs such as deductibles and ancillary costs that may not be covered by your healthcare provider.
What happens if my money is lost or stolen while I'm abroad?
This policy provides coverage for money lost or stolen subject to a limit of $250. Please contact the claims helpline for information required to make a claim or file a claim online at www.bfm.bm/file a claim. All claim payments are made on a reimbursement basis. No cash advances will be made.
Will I be able to make a claim if I miss my flight?
The Travel Insurance policies provide coverage for flight cancellation or curtailment as a result of illness, death, or injury of any of the insureds or a close relative or business associate of the insureds. The airline ticket must be non-refundable or credit has not been received due to cancellation or curtailment.
Do travelers have to be related to qualify for the Family Travel coverage?
Yes - the Family Travel Plan applies to families residing in the same household.. Family is defined as two parents or a single parent and any number of their children, step children or foster children aged not under 2 or over 21 who normally reside in the same residence or up to 25 if attending, on a full time basis, an accredited academic or vocational institution.
How do I make a claim?
All claims should be submitted to the BF&M Insurance Group. BF&M has a 24 hour 7 days a week, Travel Assist hot line which offers support and assistance. Please have your policy number ready for reference or keep it in a safe place when travelling.
