Closing accounts

Option 1 for closing accounts

Visit any one of our local branches Monday to Friday between 9:00am-4:30pm
Requirements:  Valid photo ID

Option 2 for closing accounts

If you are unable to visit our local branches you may submit the following by mail or courier (e-mail or faxes are not permitted):

  • original signed letter of instruction (no photocopies)
  • valid photo ID (passport)
  • certified copy of recent utility bill or bank statement (within last 3 months); as proof of current residential address

 

Acceptable certification must include official seal/stamp of office. If documentation is not in English a certified translated copy is required:

  • Officer, Vice President (or above) of a bank or HSBC employee (of any level)
  • a notary public
  • an officer of an embassy or consulate

If a balance is held in the account, HSBC will remit funds by either draft or wire transfer. 

For wire transfers include:

  • bank name
  • full bank branch address
  • bank code (SWIFT, ABA, Sort Code, Transit number, IBAN)
  • your name as shown on that account
  • full account number including IBAN
  • remittance currency

 

Please note we cannot remit funds to a third party account.
