What is the Digital Secure Key?
If you use online or mobile banking, our security device gives you added protection against the threat of fraud. As well as your normal username and passwords, you’ll generate a code from your device, which only you have access to.
The Digital Secure Key is a digital version of your physical security device and is a feature on the HSBC Bermuda app. It works in a similar way to the physical security device to provide added protection to your accounts and transactions. You can use it to generate unique, one-time use security codes to log on to onine banking, as well as to verify transactions requiring a higher level of authentication.
The Digital Secure Key will work on supported operating systems and devices as a part of the HSBC Bermuda app. It is a replacement for your physical security device, so you won't need to carry a physical security device with you anymore. It offers a more convenient way to access the full range of online banking services.
What is the difference between the Digital Secure Key and physical
Both devices serve the same purpose. The key difference between the two is that the Digital Secure Key is a part of the HSBC Bermuda app, while the physical is a separate device.
How will I activate the Digital Secure Key?
You’ll find the Digital Secure Key within the latest version of the app.
If you’ve used the HSBC Bermuda app before you will simply launch the app and log on using your 6-digit PIN or biometrics. You’ll then be prompted to switch to Digital Secure Key. To complete the Digital Secure Key activation process, select ‘Confirm and continue’.
If you’re new to the HSBC Bermuda app, you’ll need to download it from the App Store or Google Play Store. One you’ve installed it, follow the instructions on screen to register and log on. You’ll then be prompted to activate your Digital Secure Key – just select ‘Confirm and continue’.
If you choose not to enable the Digital Secure Key, you will no longer be able to access the HSBC Bermuda app.
